To many of us, mention of an African Safari conjures up images from the distant past of European Big Game Hunters dressed in khaki and wearing pith helmets. Perhaps it is something we read, or old movies.
The pith helmet should not be too quickly consigned to the past. It is a very practical and well proven lightweight design of hat for keeping your head cool and shaded when outdoors in hot tropical climates.
First, there is a simple lightweight straw version.
This is the French version. Interestingly, the French and British (below) developed different designs.
